A group under the aegis of Niger Delta Women Peace Movement has commenced moves to enthrone whoever Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State would anoint as his successor, ahead 2019 general elections.
This was revealed, Tuesday when the leadership of the group paid a courtesy call on the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Domestics Hon Mrs. Ogechi Ololo.
The group which executives comprise of 10 women from each of the 305 wards in the state, enjoys the support and fellowship of their counterparts in other Niger Delta states.
Speaking at the parley, the State Representative and APC State Woman Leader, Lady Tessy Ohanuba said they came to appreciate Hon Ogechi Ololo, whom she described as a result-oriented person and also to handover the group to her for proper guidance and direction.
Her words, “We have come to appreciate you and also handover Niger Delta Women Peace Movement to you, so that you will direct the women in Owerri zone. Whoever our Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha anoints as his successor will enjoy overwhelming support from the women.”
The founder of the group and General Manager Imo Housing Corporation Prince Dr. Henry Okafor who joined the parley later, noted that the group believed that Governor Okorocha has done so much for the state, hence the need to have one of his ‘children’ continue from where he stopped.
“But for Nigerian constitution, what we will be talking about now is, Owelle go for third term”, Prince Okafor said.
Responding, Hon. Mrs. Ogechi Ololo thanked the women and the founder of the group for deferring their engagements just to honour her. She noted that Owerri zone is exceptional and urged the women to match their words with action through prayers.
Hon Ololo remarked that Governor Okorocha does not believe in man-know-man syndrome.
“He picks at random and makes nobody to be somebody”, she added.
“We owe it to Imo citizens to prove that any man chosen by His Excellency was chosen by God. Such person must be fearful and should possess the zeal to continue with the good works of His Excellency”, she concluded.
The highpoint of the meeting was the conferment of Matron award on Hon. Mrs. Ogechi Ololo.
