Insists on younger successor
No fewer than 2000 Imo youths were on Thursday 9th March, 2017 addressed by the Governor of Imo State, Anayo Rochas Okorocha. The youth body under the aegis of Imo State Youth Parliament were on solidarity visit to the governor.
Addressing the youths at the Victory Chapel, Government House Owerri, Okorocha remarked that the youths are filled with potentials, waiting to be harnessed and promised to help them realize their dreams.
“Some of you here are potentially rich. Some of you here are silent millionaires. When your eyes are open and you know what I know, you will begin to discover yourself”.
The governor maintained that the major problem of the country is neither recession nor poverty but so much ignorance and affirmed his resolve to address the problem in Imo state through organizing lectures and seminars where motivational speakers, experts and his likes will be invited to talk to Imo youths.
Okorocha reposed confidence that his campaign promises on job creation will soon commence and scored self high in urban renewal project that has brought about the dualization of the major roads in the city.
He reiterated his position on a younger person to succeed him when he exits as Imo governor in next two and half years.
“I want to assure you that as I exit as the governor in the next two and half years, a younger person will come. We cannot afford to continue with the old system, from Arthur Nzeribe – Iwuanyanwu – Kema Chikwe – Udenwa. I have retired all of them to Abuja, Okorocha said.”
Earlier in an interview with the press, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Youths and Sports, Hon. Kenneth Emelu attributed the solidarity visit to the love and passion the youths of Imo state have for the governor. He advised them to keep on working for the governor and be genuine in all they do.
