The leadership of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has been charged to go back to the drawing board in order to properly educate and sensitize women who misunderstood the vision and mission of the group.
Hon. Mrs Ogechi Ololo who is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff Domestic and Internal Affairs, Imo State Government House, stressed the need to revisit the vision and mission of the association for the betterment of women and the society at large, when she admonished the leadership of NCWS Owerri North, who visited her at the Government House Owerri.
She explained that it would be a significant, corrective and educative move, so as to properly sensitize those who view the group as a political organization and misunderstood its aims and objectives.
The Deputy Chief of Staff Domestic and Internal Affairs suggested that they should start educating women about NCWS, pointing out that some people are reluctant to identify with them because they see it as a political group.
She said, “It is not a political gathering, it is a social gathering that impacts on the lives of the poorest of the poor. I personally believe I am part of NCWS and will do my best to empower the members whenever there is need for it’
The Deputy Chief of Staff expressed appreciation that her fellow married women from Owerri North under the NCWS deemed it necessary to visit her and commended them for all their love and prayers on her family and the state government.
Earlier in her speech, the President of NCWS in Owerri North, Mrs Chinyere Okere said the new leadership of the group came to identify with Hon. Ololo as an example of womanhood and a unique female personality who has made outstanding and impactful contributions to the group.
She said, “It is a solidarity visit to show loyalty to woman who has helped us a lot and keeps helping us. We are ready to work with you.”
In her vote of thanks, Hon. Mrs Helen Emezi noted that Hon Ololo has always been a source of inspiration as her speech and actions have given them confidence and motivation, she promised that NCWS Owerri North will always be there to honour any invitation by the Deputy Chief of Staff Domestic and Internal Affairs.
