The Managing Director of Ochiedike Diagnostic and Dialysis Centre, Owerri, Imo State, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwachukwu has advised women in the state to desist from female genital mutilation.
According to the Ezinihitte-Mbaise born medical expert, female genital mutilation causes retention of urine and menstrual flow, that often results to false pregnancies.
“It leads to prolonged labour, still birth, Vesico Vaginal Fistula”, he added.
Continuing, Nwachukwu said “victims, most times bleed to death. It also leads to infection, tetanus, Hepatitis B or C, painful periods, pain during intercourse, most of them come down with emergency cesarean section, anxiety; depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.”
He concluded that most people who practice it use unsterilized equipment like razor blades, knives, sharp stones, scissors and advised women not to engage in the practice.

I am impressed but how come I have not been aware of the existence of this union having lived in the UK for 20 odd years. I only happened to see the advert for the organisation in a recent publication : IMO State Business Link Magazine.

You have stated the dates but not the times for your meetings!
