Urban renewal; a panacea to traffic congestion – Okorocha

Imo State Governor Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha has described the urban renewal Programme carried out by his administration  as the solution needed to end the challenges of traffic gridlock experienced in the state.

The governor stated this while monitoring the urban renewal programe of road expansion work along Bank Road in Owerri Municipal, he expressed optimism that soon traffic gridlock will be a thing of the past in the capital city as a result of the road expansion.

Owelle Okorocha expressed satisfaction with the speed and efficiency displayed by the contractor and assured that the state government will meet up with its deadline before the rainy reason.

Governor Okorocha said ‘as you are now aware Imo state is the fastest growing city in Nigeria, am happy with the contractor doing the job, his pace and efficiency is quite commendable.

He called on Imo youths to engage themselves in meaningful activities, hinting that the urban renewal has a lot of job opportunities for them, but unfortunately youths from other parts of the country are the ones maximizing the opportunities.

The governor made known the agenda of his regime to empower the youths with about 1000 taxis under the blue taxi scheme. He equally revealed that the government has acquired vehicle with modern crime fighting facilities.

According to the governor, it will be stationed in strategic places in the state to fight crime to a standstill and it is in line with the Rescue Mission  Quick Response Scheme meant to curb crime and criminality.

…Says she qualifies for highest political position in Imo

Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha has described his sister, Hon. Mrs. Ogechi Ololo as being qualified for the highest political position in the state.

The governor was speaking at the birthday party of his sister, held Saturday, 11th March, 2017 at the VIP Lounge of New Concorde Hotel Owerri.

According to the Governor, “If Ogechi was not my sister, she qualifies to hold the highest office in Imo state”.

The Governor further said that his sister is a great asset to Imo people, noting that as he quits governance of the state in a very short time, Ogechi and other members of the rescue mission team will be released to exercise their muscles in politics until they discover their talent.

While celebrating with his sister on the occasion of her birthday, the governor described Ogechi as very honest, hardworking, lover of humanity and a team player.

Earlier, the husband of the celebrant, Engr Chuks Ololo lavished encomiums on his wife, describing her as being very caring and a strong pillar not just for the family but also for their community.

The celebrant said she was so grateful to God for her new age and was all smiles while appreciating her husband for the surprise birthday party.

On her friends who came to celebrate with her, Ogechi said they have demonstrated love in a way she least expected and was particularly grateful to the governor and his wife for their presence.

Top government officials including the governor’s Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu and other dignitaries who graced the occasion took turns to shower praises on the celebrant, who according to them, had been a wonderful friend and colleague.

The highpoint of the occasion was the cutting of the birthday cake and gift presentation by guests.
