Okorocha promises to upgrade police training school

Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha has said that he will rehabilitate the state police command training school.
He gave the assurance when the Deputy Inspector General, in charge of Training and Strategy in the Southeast and Northeast, Emmanuel Inyang paid him a courtesy visit.
The D.I.G and the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike has visited the Government House to seek the governor’s support.
They want the government to assist the Nigerian police in fixing the abandoned police training school in Nekede, Owerri West Council Area, since the training for new set of policemen will begin in September.
Okorocha, while addressing his guests said the Nigerian police remains one of the best, and assured that he will do all within his power to help the force.
He also assured the Police Boss that the police training school will wear a new look soon.
The governor also went on tour of the training school and was shocked at the level of dilapidation.
Okorocha promised to do his best to make Imo Police Command a model in the country.

Imo police rescues Magistrate from gunmen

The Imo state Police command has rescued a magistrate of Ihiagwa court in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, after reportedly spending two days in the kidnappers’ den.

The magistrate, a female, was abducted on March 18 by gunmen along the Owerri-Port Harcourt expressway on her way home after close of work.

Her driver was equally kidnapped but later released by the gunmen who established contacts with her family, demanding 20million Naira as the condition for her release.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri the Imo state capital, the spokesperson for the Imo state command, Andrew Enwerem, said that the magistrate had been rescued unhurt and reunited with her family.

Enwerem disclosed that no ransom was paid for her release. He said that the operatives of the command rescued her in an undisclosed forest.

According to him, the men of the command swung into action immediately the incident was reported to the Police and successfully, the woman was rescued unhurt.

He, however, said that the command is investigating the incident and as soon as the criminals are arrested, they will be paraded to the general public.
