Owerri, the capital city of Imo State was agog during the just concluded Imo State Carnival. Various groups that participated in the event contributed immensely to make it colorful and attractive. It was an atmosphere of entertainment and excitement.

The floats took off from Wetheral Road, through Emmanuel College Round About to Inland Road and ended at Heroes Square, the main venue of the event.

Various floats took turns to compete in different dance steps, including the float of Deputy Chief of Staff Domestic and Internal Affairs, Honourable Mrs Ogechi Ololo. Some floats made acrobatic display as a mark of uniqueness to distinguish them from others.

At the end of the event the floats of Imo State Deputy Governor emerged first, while that of Imo State House of Assembly emerged second and float of Deputy Chief of Staff Operations took third position.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo Okorocha, explained that the idea was to bring Imo State people together to showcase their God-given talents.

The governor who was visibly impressed by the improvement in participation, the good efforts of the organizers and the abundance of talents at the event said the carnival has succeeded in showcasing the culture of Imo people to the outside world.

Based on the improvement brought by the organizers of the event and impressive performance of the participants Imo State Governor expressed conviction that soon the state will be placed on the tourism map of the country.

Those in attendance were Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade,   Royal Fathers , Captains of Industry, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Okorocha on Domestic and Internal Affairs Honourable Mrs Ogechi Ololo, and other top Government officials too numerous to mention.
