Committee members for Imo State International Modern Market Naze, have been charged to swing into action so as to ensure full completion of the market latest by June 2017.
Chief of Staff Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, gave the charge when he inaugurated the eleven-man Caretaker Committee members for the Multi Billion Naira Imo International Modern Market project in his office at the Government House Owerri.
The Committee will be headed by Engr. Chuks Ololo, a former Transition Committee Chairman of Owerri North, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mr John Uzoh will act as the secretary of the committee.
Ugwumba Nwosu urged the committee members to diligently discharge their duties with determination, efficiency and effectiveness so as to actualize the vision and mission of the governor by ensuring that the market starts full operation within the stipulated time.
He explained that the project is one of the ways Governor Okorocha`s regime wants to industrialize the state and create more job opportunities for unemployed Imo youths.
The Chief of Staff who spoke through the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Engr. Chidi Ibe, admonished them to maximize the opportunity and contribute their quota towards the development of the state.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the Committee Chairman, Engr Chuks Ololo, said the International Modern Market will make the agenda of the governor for jobs, factories and industries a dream come through, as it will offer employment opportunities to many unemployed Imo youths.
He disclosed that the International Market will offer jobs to over 4000 people, ranging from cleaners, receptionists, drivers, factory workers and others too numerous to mention, as well as create good platforms for banks and other bigger companies to flourish.
According to him, it was designed to be the largest market in Nigeria and the center of economic activities in the country as every aspect of the economy is already captured in the design of the International Market.
The Committee Chairman described Governor Okorocha as a visionary leader who means well for the people of Imo State, Nigeria and African continent at large.
Other members of the committee include; Chief Emeka Dike and Chief Sylvester Oguine, the State Development Council (SDC) Chairmen for Naze and Nekede respectively.
